Presentation:

This game joins the new Jeux Descartes "games for 2" serie.
12 sheeps (6 for each players) have to share the same field. But it seems this area is just overcrowded, and they immediatly begin to fight trying to eat the best grass..... or to expulse the other sheeps from the field !!

Some words concerning game mechanisms:

At beginning of the game, the 12 sheeps tokens are placed on the board face up, and the 24 green tokens are placed face down (nobody knows ewactly where are the best grass tokens, nor the 2 wolves !!)

On his turn, a player MUST do 2 of the following actions (he can choose to do the same action twice):
- Go on recon (thats means secretly exmine two grass tokens)
- Camouflage a sheep (turn it face down to protect it from wolves)
- Move a sheep (for example to eat grass.. but take care for the wolves)
- Move a wolf (for example to eat your opponent's sheep)
- Play an action card

Oh?? Action cards ??? but where are they coming from ??
When one of your sheeps goes on a green token, you reveal it, and there are 4 possibilties:
- It's a grass token with a 5 value.. wel done !! it's lush grass and you get 5 victory points.. but.. but..lush grass is to heavy, rich and full of nutrients.. your sheep is removed from the game.. and take care: if it was your last sheep you immediatly lose the game
- it's a grass token with a 3 value: it's just norma grass and you get 3 victory points
- It's a grass token with a 1 value: it's fermented grass.. you only get one poor victory point.. but fermented grass has delayed action euphoric effects, and you immediatly draw an action card which will give you special abilities when played in the future
- It's a wolf token: the sheep is eaten by the wolf. This sheep is removed from the game, and, untill now, eaxh player will be allowed to move the wolf on his turn !

Game takes end even when there are no more green tokens on the board (in this case, the player with the highest toatl of victory points wins the game), or when a player loses his last sheep (in this case he loses the game, even if he had more victory points than his opponent)

What will be your strategy ?? security, using recon ? lush grass with the risk to lose all your sheeps ? fermented grass to get the best abilities which can give you a big advantage in the future ? or using the wolves to hunt down your opponent's sheeps ?

Make your own experience, but don't forget:...... BE WILD !!!

Cyril St-BLANCAT made very funny illustrations for the action cards.

The style is close to "le génie des alpages" without to be a copy

Game's history :

This game was presented to Jeux Descartes for the first time in spring 2001.. but it was refused. They loved the background of the games (oh these lovely crazy sheeps) but were not completly convicted by the mechanisms. Ther was no bug, but there was just not enough fun playing it !

Instead of a definitive "no" answer, they asked me to try to find an other way on the same background. During many months, i tried, but was not succesfull, and i decided to give up for a while. At this time, i began to work on an other project.. and after some time, i was blocked on this project. Trying to find a solution to this new problem, i found a solution... but for my shepp game !! Suddenly, all seemed evident. From the initial shepp project, nothing remains, except the crazy lovely sheeps and the player's final target. All the mechanisms have changed, and now, i just wonder if the players will have the same enthousiasm as mine playing this game !
